SIR - Some months ago, I penned a letter to the Hampshire Chronicle protesting (as many others did) about the closing of the travel office at Winchester Station. Now what was predicted has come to pass.
There is no office and in spite of proposed alternative arrangements such as a special enquiry area, I can't see one.
The old office remains empty and desolate while furious passengers stand for ages waiting to make detailed enquiries, standing in the same queue as those waiting to buy tickets for trains that have gone because there aren't enough service windows.
And where is all that very useful information that could be found in the original office?
Come on, South West Trains, you can do better than this - so much for encouragement to travel by train and save the planet.
Let us have our promised special area where we can discuss the best routes, times, prices, etc., and where the elderly and disabled can sit while waiting their turn.

It was a very sad loss of a very, very efficient, friendly service. Attempting to do the same on line is incredibly difficult. The sooner the special enquiry area is set up the better for all we keen travellers.
I think the point has well and truly been made that South West trains have abandoned a well tried and popular service.PLEASE bring it back or something with same sort of efficiency.
