AROUND 25 fire fighters tackled a fire in South Wonston, near Winchester, yesterday (Sunday July 6).

The fire broke out in a derelict single storey wooden building in Pine Close at around 12.42pm and fire crews were working for five hours to bring it under control.

Appliances attended from Sutton Scotney, Andover, Alton, a water carrier from Basingstoke and two jets and one special equipment unit were used from Winchester.

The 'bungalow' was actually in Lower Road and not Pine Close, and was not derelict but contained all my 84 yr old mothers possessions. I have been waiting since Monday morning for the local police to call me back but as of yet they have not had the decency to do so. It seems that the only people who get what they want are the criminals.
