Comedian Joel Dommett has revealed his thwarted attempts at finding romance, saying working unsociable hours means that his ideal partner would be “a nurse, Batman or a stripper”.

The I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! contestant is one of the final four left in the ITV competition along with Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas and Olympic hockey player Sam Quek, but despite his popularity he said he is struggling to find a girlfriend.

In tonight’s episode, he said to Scarlett: “Being in here around all these people who are very happy in their relationships made me evaluate a lot of things and makes me feel a lot about what I want.”

Joel went on: “I started dating someone before I came out here and am genuinely looking forward to seeing her again, but the problem is that I immediately go away for work again.

“It’s just really hard because I go, ‘I really like you, see you in March’. It’s hard to date a normal person who has a normal job.”

Talking about his hectic schedule, he said: “I film during the day and pretty much gig every night, basically I need to date someone who does nightshifts like a nurse, or Batman or strippers.

“I dated a policewoman for a while and she was lovely, it’s really fun dating a policewoman.”

He added: “It wasn’t anything like ‘let’s use your handcuffs’ because that would be the equivalent of her like asking me to tell jokes in the bedroom.”

Later, Scarlett said in the Bush Telegraph: “He’s not short of dates, he perhaps picks the wrong girls or when he gets close to someone he gets scared and bins them off.”

A double eviction last night which saw Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts and ex-footballer Wayne Bridge booted from the jungle left the final four to take on the show’s infamous trial Celebrity Cyclone, where contestants are dressed as superheroes and blasted with a water cannon.

Scarlett said: “Anyone who knows me knows how much I bang on about this every year and now I’m going to be doing it in real life.”

After the trial, which they completed successfully, all four agreed that they had loved it and felt happy to have enjoyed it together.

Scarlett said: “The cyclone was better than I ever could imagine and I’m not kidding I’ve literally imagined it for about ten years now. I’m so content with life.”

Telling the other campers about her favourite jungle memory, she said: “I remember sitting next to Carol Vorderman, laughing about how the trial was called The Big Bush Bake Off and I couldn’t stop laughing as she sat there eating turkey testicles and I thought, ‘this is my life’.”

During a luxury dinner that the camp won after their trial success, Joel agreed that he had had a brilliant experience.

He said: “This is the happiest I’ve ever been in my life, I’m so happy, it’s been a pleasure to know you all. This has been one of my favourite days in my entire life.”
