Melvin Odoom will be hoping he has more luck in the love lift than he did on the Strictly dancefloor when he appears in a Take Me Out celebrity special.

The radio DJ was the first contestant to get the axe from Strictly Come Dancing but will soon be looking for love on one of two special editions of the show, which will include The Only Way Is Essex’s James Argent, former rugby star Thom Evans, 5ive singer Ritchie Neville, DJ Roman Kemp and Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson.

Host Paddy McGuinness will be there to greet each of the stars as they emerge from the love lift to meet 30 single girls.

Arg, whose turbulent love life has been documented on reality TV, said: “I had a really great time and experience filming Take Me Out and meeting all the lovely ladies!”

Ritchie added: “It was kind of the right place, right time to let Paddy have a go at match making for me.

“It’s only getting a grilling from 30 women, revealing secrets about yourself that you’ve never revealed before and potentially going on a first date, all in front of the great British public. What could possibly go wrong?”

The first Take Me Out Celebrity Special will feature Thom, Roman and Ritchie while the second special will feature Arg, Melvin and Nile.

Take Me Out’s Celebrity Specials and series 9 of the show will air in 2017 on ITV.
