Casey Batchelor has revealed that she attempted to kill herself as a teenager.

The glamour model and former Celebrity Big Brother contestant has spoken in the past about her struggles with mental illness, but has now told The Sun about the extent of her troubles as part of a campaign to get the Government to invest more in mental health services.

She explained: “My mum had stopped speaking to me because I’d chosen to live with my dad and I had no friends at school, where the day to day was miserable.

“I was torn apart by their feud and the endless battles at school.”

At the age of 15, Casey took an overdose and woke up in her bedroom during the night being sick.

The 30-year-old went on: “As a child, all I wanted was to be listened to and for people to realise how tough the combination of juggling my studies, my parents’ divorce and the constant bullying really was.

“Throughout school, right up until I left, the girls were vile to me. I was bullied for having big boobs and being a dancer and was left out of everything. Every day felt humiliating.”

Casey added: “I know that I was depressed. I must have been to have even contemplated an overdose.”

Eventually, she spoke to her mum six months after the suicide attempt and said : “Admitting I had a problem was the hardest thing…My mum was heartbroken and we sobbed together on the phone for hours. She kept asking, ‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ But I didn’t have the answer. It was an awful time for both of us, but in a weird way it actually brought us closer together.”
