Emilia Clarke has revealed she took inspiration for her Game Of Thrones character from Sarah Connor – who she is now playing in a new Terminator film.

The actress stars as Daenerys Targaryen in the hit fantasy TV series and it seems her lending from Terminator daughter Sarah for the role could have been obvious to others, as she has now been cast to star opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger for Terminator Genisys.

She told The Sun: “I had looked to Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor as an inspiration for Daenerys when I first started doing Game Of Thrones.”

But that isn’t Emilia’s only link to the character – her Game Of Thrones co-star Lena Headey also played Sarah in TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Emilia said: “The creators of Game Of Thrones just joked about us having fights. They were like, ‘We need to make you guys fight. That would be funny’.”

However, despite playing a mother of dragons and leader of her people, Emilia said in real life fighting did not come naturally to her.

She admitted: “By nature I am not the most aggressive person. I wouldn’t go looking for a fight. I would much rather defuse it with humour.

“I think I’m a happy medium between Daenerys and Sarah Connor – I’d like to think I have elements of both, but I don’t have dragons and I don’t have a Terminator daddy, so there are not too many similarities between us.”
