Lindsay Lohan has opened up about her time in prison on The Jonathan Ross Show.

The 28-year-old actress - who is currently starring on the West End stage in Speed-The-Plow - served 14 days of a 90-day jail sentence in 2010 for breaking the terms of her probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanour cocaine use and driving under the influence.

Lindsay was interviewed by Jonathan on his ITV chat show - due to air on Saturday October 25 - where she answered questions about her time behind bars, spent in solitary confinement.

She apparently revealed: "You leave for one hour a day but you don't go outside. Other girls in those cells were in there for murder. They told me it was for safety purposes but what am I going to do?

"I made a mistake. I went to a club, I drank and I drove home. It is not the right thing to do but to put someone in that position... it was very scary.

"But I finally had silence in my life. As scared as I was, I finally felt like I did not have to answer to anyone or do anything for anyone."

The Daily Mirror reported that Li-Lo's representative has since become embroiled in a row with ITV bosses as they claim she was made "upset and uncomfortable" by the questions about prison and they want that part of the interview to be cut.

Lindsay - who has been checked into jail for just a few hours on several other occasions but released due to overcrowding - is thought to have become upset when Ross asked her exactly how long she had spent in jail.

She reportedly replied: "I have no idea. I've blocked that part out. That's in the past. OK. You are not putting this on the show."

Jonathan later said: "Well, it's been lovely, occasionally tense, having you here. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I was just going on about the same subject, which is why you, understandably, got a little defensive."

Sources from the show told the newspaper that Lindsay seemed fine during the interview.
