A star-studded line-up including Little Mix and 5 Seconds Of Summer will help honour the UK’s unsung teenage heroes at Radio 1′s Teen Awards.

Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw announced that Nick Jonas and All Time Low will also perform at the event, which will crown the year’s best music, online, sport and entertainment stars, as voted by Radio 1 listeners.

This year the awards will take place at the SSE Wembley Arena on November 8 and host Nick Grimshaw predicted the crowds would raise the roof off the venue.

“The Teen Awards are the loudest awards I’ve ever been to and I know 2015 is gonna be the best ever,” he said.

Now in it’s sixth year, the Teen Awards were created to recognise the selfless, brave and exceptional achievements of British teenagers who are often portrayed negatively in the media.

Norminated by Radio 1 listeners, three Teen Heroes are selected each year by a panel of judges consisting of Radio 1 DJs and former winners.

5 Seconds Of Summer said: “A big thanks to Radio 1 for inviting us to be a part of this year’s Teen Awards. We really appreciate their support and we’re proud to be involved in an event that celebrates inspirational teens. Gonna be a big night!”

Celebrity awards include Best British Solo Artist, Best British Group, Best British Vlogger, Best British TV Show, and Best Film, all presented by special surprise guests.

Ben Cooper, controller of Radio 1 and 1Xtra, added: “Radio 1’s Teen Awards are a fantastic celebration of youth culture in the UK, highlighting some of the amazing, selfless acts that teenagers undertake to make life better for their friends, family and communities.”

The event is only open for 14-17 year olds, who can buy tickets from October 14. If you’re not lucky enough to fall into that category, the show will be streamed on the Radio 1 website and broadcast live on air.
