This year’s ITV Text Santa has already seen Phillip Schofield broadcasting continuously for 24 hours, now we’ve got Ant and Dec presenting a show complete with an Olly Murs performance, a Bushtucker Trial with McBusted, and George Clooney on Downton Abbey.

We’ve also got to know some of the people helped by charities supported by Text Santa, like Luke who the Teenage Cancer Trust is helping to deal with leukaemia.

The programme already seems to have touched a lot of people – including Simon Cowell. We saw the notoriously cold X Factor judge show a softer side as he met Steve and his guide dog, as well as some extremely cute puppies.

Steve’s guide dog, a golden retriever named May, was given to him by Guide Dogs – but there’s not enough of them trained for all the people who need them. Steve said he wouldn’t have a live without May, and he meant literally – she’s saved him twice.

X Factor winner Ben Haenow performed his single for the first time, and people loved that.

Except this guy whose mind was worrying about other things.

And they also loved the very watchable Downton special.

But generally, the programme has just been making people really, really emotional.

Already Text Santa and all those involved have done what they set out to do – raise a lot of money.

The six UK charity’s that viewers are being encouraged to donate to are the Alzheimer’s Society, Guide Dogs, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Teenage Cancer Trust, Together for Short Lives, and WellChild.
