Bob Mortimer as been made an honorary doctor in professional achievement by Teesside University, returning to his roots in Middlesbrough to receive the award.
The solictor-turned-comic sung praises to the town, admitting: “I’ve got associations with various universities but this is the only one I’d accept such an honour for.
“The town means so much to me.”
