X Factor viewers will see solo acts morph into groups as the judges unveil an all-girl outfit and a boy band as the boot camp stage reaches its conclusion.

The panel gave a lifeline to singers who had impressed them but had not made it as performers in their own right, putting them together to give them another chance.

The unnamed acts feature on ITV in the last of three boot camp programmes, ahead of next week's "judges' houses" section of the singing contest.

The eight-piece boy band is the largest group assembled for the show. Judges had considered making the group more compact but Simon Cowell told them: " When we saw you as eight people, this is no word of a lie, every single one of us said 'none of this band can leave'.

"This is something different. It's nice to do something different."

The boy band is made up of James Graham (17), Reece Bibby (15), Tom Mann (20), Casey Johnson (19), Jake Sims (19), Charlie Jones (14), Barclay Beales (18) and Chris Leonard (18).

The girls are Abi Garrido (16), Abby Eades (17), Leah Gooden (16), Mimi O'Connell (17) and Saffron Silva (16).
