The X Factor contestants faced another double blow as two singers – Seann Miley Moore and Kiera Weathers – were voted off the show.

Judge Nick Grimshaw, who is mentoring the boys category, saw two of his singers, Seann and Mason end up in the final sing-off.

After an emotional sing-off, when it came to the judges voting, Nick sent the vote to a deadlock as Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini opted to send home Mason, while he and Rita Ora chose Seann.

Seann was sent home after receiving the fewest votes from the public.

“It’s been an incredible journey but the show must go on,” he said.

Simon, who voted to send Noise home, said: “I don’t want to send either of these guys home. Look, I said this last week and I’ve got to stick by it, if there’s a sing-off and we’re judging on the best performance on the sing-off, then the person I have to send home is Mason.”

An emotional Cheryl said she was in shock to see them in the bottom two, adding: “This is the hardest bottom two I’ve ever been involved in on this show.”

Before the sing-off, Rita’s contestant Kiera Weathers had received the least amount of public votes and left the show.

Kiera said: “I came out last night and I did me, so I’m more than happy with that. It’s not the end, this is just the start of my journey.”

During Saturday night’s show, Seann delivered a theatrical performance of California Dreamin’ by The Mamas & the Papas, prompting Simon to say: “Seann, you have an amazing presence and a spectacular voice, but that was lazy.”

Nick defended the performance saying: “It’s not something you see on a talent show, it’s something you see on the Grammys or the MTV Video Music Awards.”

Former X Factor contestant Fleur East took to the stage to perform her new debut single, Sax, at the start of the show.

“It is amazing, this stage changed my life and the contestants don’t realise that, this show does change lives, I’m living proof,” she told host Olly Murs.

Commenting on her performance, Simon said: “Seriously for a moment I was speechless, you were good last year, that was off the charts. Like I said, this is why we make the show.”

American singer CeeLo Green also performed, singing his new song, Music To My Soul. The singer emerged on stage covered in flowers, prompting mixed reactions to his outfit on social media.

He told host Caroline Flack that he thought Che Chesterman stood out and was the “frontrunner”. When asked what advice he’d give the contestants he said: “I don’t know, wear something nice… take some time out to smell the flowers.”

The X Factor continues next week and will be on ITV on Saturday at 8pm.
