CYPHERS Theatre Company production of Northanger Abbey – a stage adaptation of a Jane Austen classic –returns to Guildhall Winchester tomorrow.
Held in the Guildhall’s atmospheric King Charles Hall, this production celebrates Jane Austen’s Gothic satire in the 200th anniversary year of the novel’s publication, reminding audiences of Austen’s satiric attack, her timeless comedy and her playfulness.
A timeless tale of growing up and getting it wrong, the company use their characteristic, accessible style of fast-paced action and a multi-rolling, five-person ensemble to bring this classic tale to the attention of our contemporary imaginations.
This adaptation of Northanger Abbey was devised by the ensemble over more than two years and premiered at Guildhall Winchester in October 2017 before transferring to the Pleasance Theatre in London.
A local theatre company, Cyphers specialise in imaginative adaptations of beloved stories, empowering audiences to engage with classic literature.
