MUSIC lovers will have the chance to see some top names from the city’s vibrant music scene in one of its most intimate venues as Independent Venue Week returns to the city’s Alexandra Beer Emporium in 2018.

An exciting week of live music is lined up for the return of the event.

Former Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley, is first up to play the Bellevue Road venue, on Monday January 29. The voice behind songs such as Saturn 5 and This Is How It Feels To Be Lonely, Hingley will perform an acoustic set with a strong local support that includes Dan O’ Farrell and The Cabin Fever.

World Looping and Beatboxing Champion, SK Shlomo, is more used to treading the boards at festivals such as Glastonbury and Bestival and he’ll be bringing his latest show to The Alex on Thursday February 1.

Friday sees a local punk showcase featuring Scare Taxi from Brighton and local punk legends The Flying Alexanders, Neko Roshi, The BC Experiment and Continental Liaison.

Southampton’s own The Lounge Kittens, who shot to fame when their lounge-style covers of various heavy metal songs went viral, will play the venue on Saturday February 3 whilst the highly rated one-man-band Funke and the Tone Tone Baby completes the week with an appearance on Sunday (4th February).
