SOUTHAMPTON'S 02 Guildhall welcomes The Darkness back into the spotlight as they once again crown rock ‘n roll by playing a string of mighty live shows in support of their forthcoming album.

Promising to cement their reputation as the mightiest live band treading the boards in this saccharine age of music, Justin Hawkins and co will be showcasing their trademark mix of relentless riffs, haute couture, ridiculously loud noises and flashing things.

Renowned for their live shows and their frontman's skin tight catsuits, The Darkness were formed in Suffolk by Justin (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (guitar, backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass, backing vocals) and Rufus Tiger Taylor (drums) in 2000.

The glam rockers first came to prominence with their debut album Permission to Land three years later, backed by the smash hit single I Believe in a Thing Called Love.

The following year they won three Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act, and Best British Album.

Their fifth album Pinewood Smile was released last month.

Hear top tracks new and old at the opening night of the tour at Southampton's 02 Guildhall on Thursday.
