Whether you are a lover of the classics or eager to enjoy the talents of local movie makers, the city’s own film festival has a host of events until Sunday November 19.

The event will launch on Saturday night at God’s House Tower with a public screening of a documentary made by Southampton Ukelele Jam. Director Amy Lupin will introduce it and take part in a Q and A, followed by a Jam session.

A total of 22 short films will be screened and judged at SFW: Shorts, the festival’s short film competition on November 18. The shortlist includes films from across the world.

Head to Mayflower Theatre on November 19 for a screening of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - a film first shown there in 1937.

The amazing Compton Pipe Organ which slumbers many a day at the O2 Guildhall will be awoken by Donald MacKenzie to accompany a screening of Buster Keaton’s masterpiece The Cameraman on November 12.

Susan Beckett, Director of Southampton Film Week and City Eye the film charity which runs the festival, tells us that she is particularly proud of the programme this year. “The standard and range of films being made here is incredibly exciting and we are thrilled to provide so much home-grown talent with a screening – including a number of premieres.”

There’s also an exciting Youth Film Festival programme.
