THE much-loved production of The Snowman, which has been touring the globe for more than 20 years, will bring a flurry of magic and entertainment for all the family to Mayflower Theatre early next year.

This sparkling production transports children into the wintery wonderland of a boy and his magical snowman with a mix of enchanting dancing and live music, including the celebrated Howard Blake song, Walking in the Air, which was made famous by Aled Jones and has since been covered by more than 40 artists.

When a young boy’s snowman comes to life on Christmas Eve, the two set off on a night-time quest for adventure under starry skies. Along the way, they meet Father Christmas, dancing penguins, reindeer and crowds of The Snowman’s larger than life friends. But will they escape the clutches of the evil Jack Frost and get back home in time for Christmas morning?

Expect oustanding costumes, sparkling set designs and magical effects that combine to bring this childhood favourite to life, live on stage.

Based on the book by Raymond Briggs and the famous animated film, which has become a festive favourite, The Snowman is brought to the stage by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and has been a huge hit in the West End and worldwide in the past two decades.

Composer Howard Blake said; “The Snowman never fails to delight audiences and is a great introduction to the world of dance and theatre for young children. Children continue to be enchanted with the show’s story and characters and it is wonderful to see families return year after year.”

The Snowman is in Southampton from January 10 to 14. Tickets are on sale now from 023 8071 1811 or online at mayflower.org.uk.
