GET ready to rock!

More than 50,000 revellers are making their way across Southampton Water with their singing voices, dancing shoes and festival hats at the ready.

The gates will open later today for Isle of Wight Festival 2017.

Headlining the event this year will be international dance juggernaut David Guetta, seminal hip-hop trio Run DMC, British rock icon Rod Stewart and indie giants Arcade Fire, playing their only UK festival performance of the summer.

The inclusion of everyone from legendary throwback acts like The Pretenders and Alison Moyet to hotly-tipped up-and-comers such as Zara Larsson and The Amazons means that there is something for everyone on the bill.

Rag'n'Bone Man tells the Echo all about a mad year which has seen him rise from the fringes of the music industry to a household name following the overnight success of his smash hit Human during our chat inside.

Isle of Wight Festival-goers will also be enojying the sounds of Kaiser Chiefs. Catfish & The Bottlemen, Bastille, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, The Kooks, The Vamps and The Amazons.

A host of local acts will also feature with hotly-tipped Southampton foursome Wild Front landing their biggest show with a coveted slot on the Big Top second stage.

Frontman Jack Williams, lead guitarist Joe Connell, bassist Mike Flowers and drummer Josh Betteridge will star on the Hard Rock stage.

The Novatones must have done something to impress curator John Giddings as they follow a triumphant main stage set at Common People with a fourth consecutive appearance at Isle of Wight this weekend.

The Southampton four piece - singer-guitarist Anthony Pitman, drummer Sean Swift, guitarist Mackenzie Gordon-Smith and bassist Toby Hornby-Patterson – will showcase favourite tunes like Live for the Weekend, Guns and Dynamite and Avenue Road.

Southampton’s Sean McGowan, who sold out a full band tour last year and regularly teams up with singers like Hampshire’s Frank Turner, is also on the bill.

Away from the music, revellers will be able to watch England take on Scotland tomorrow. The result will be closely followed by big football fan and one of Scotland's most famous sons, Sunday night headliner Rod Stewart as well as his Tartan Army of fans.

A campers only show last night in the Big Top was due to feature Razorlight and Starsailor.
