SOUTHAMPTON body piercer Isobel Edwards has been announced runner up in Popworld’s Nation Lip Sync War.

Narrowly pipped at the post, 22-year-old Isobel came second out of over 250 candidates in the national competition.

She performed ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ by Coolio in the finale in Birmingham and then narrowly missed out on the grand prize during a spontaneous deciding battle with Hazel aka Lick Von Dyke from London.

Isobel said: “I want to say thanks so much– I was doing this just as a bit of a joke originally because I thought it would be hilarious and it’s been great. Loads of my friends came to support me, and so many people I’ve never even met before were cheering me on and were genuinely happy I’d got through so I just want to say thanks to everyone.”

She added: “I’ve had some of my best moments in Popworld, it’s ridiculous – luckily none of them are on film!”.

Isobel took away £500 for her efforts.

Twenty bars across the country took part in regional heats last month, with 40 winners progressing to the semi-finals held in London, Bristol, Southampton, Blackpool, Wolverhampton and Sheffield.

The all singing, all dancing X-Factor style finale in Birmingham’s own Popworld took place in front of an expert judging panel. National hero Chico, also performed his smash-hit single ‘It’s Chico Time’, and appeared alongside renowned Simon Cowell lookalike Andy Monk, and Captain Morgan himself, flying in from Miami just to take part.
