HAPPY Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder will be giving a fascinating insight into his life and career when he visits Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday 8 March. He will also answer questions from the audience.
Shaun is from Salford, Greater Manchester, where in 1980 he formed Happy Mondays. Their releases included the two classic albums ‘Bummed’ and ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches’.
He subsequently started Black Grape, releasing the album ‘It’s Great When You’re Straight... Yeah’. Following his achievements with both bands, he received the ‘Godlike Genius Award’ from NME in 2000.
A renowned singer-songwriter, Shaun Ryder also became a poster boy for rock’n’roll excess during the late 80s and early 90s.
Shaun was runner-up in ‘I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2010 and went on to have his own TV programme ‘Shaun Ryder on UFOs’ on The History Channel in 2013.
He continues to tour with both Happy Mondays and Black Grape.
Tickets for Shaun Ryder’s appearance at Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday 8 March are on sale now from theatre royalwinchester.co.uk or 01962 840 440.
