BEAT those January blues by attending an exciting new musical event to celebrate Southampton.

ReesLeisure, in collaboration with Showcase Performance Company, have created an impressive set list to be performed by a range of Southampton based societies.

One of the groups taking part are Southampton Choral Society, a fun-loving choir with over 100 members. Ruth Leu, from the Society’s committee explained: “Following past performances with Carlos Acosta and Russell Watson, Southampton Choral Society are delighted to be returning to the Mayflower stage for the city's Celebration Proms. We look forward to a fantastic evening."

With a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ theme in mind, over 300 performers will turn out to perform 2 hours of music from world famous artists, including inspiring music from Queen to Imagine Dragons.

Performers on January 29 will join forces with the audience to sing and wave flags to Elgar’s famous ‘Land of Hope & Glory.’ Filmed live, the content will be edited and shared through numerous channels to highlight and celebrate all things Southampton.

Other confirmed performers include, Southampton Ukulele Jam, Showcase Philharmagic Orchestra and Southampton Musical Society.

The show will raise money for Mayflower Engage, the theatre’s outreach project.

ReesLeisure will host Southampton’s first full length Marathon in April.

Tickets for Southampton Celebration Proms are available from 023 8071 1811 or mayflower.org.uk.
