NICK Arnold will be bringing his phenomenally successful Horrible Science books to life at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium on one special weekend next month.

The Horrible Science event will include energetic shows celebrating the best bits of the multi-award winning Horrible Science series. In his typically gruesome fashion, Nick will engage his audience in science through amusing activities, facts, readings and questions.

Ben Ward, Acting Director at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, told the Daily Echo: “It’s hard to believe the Horrible Science series is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. We’re delighted to welcome Nick Arnold to the Centre and know that his young fans will love this horrible feast of science gruesomeness! Guests can look forward to a fast, funny, furious (and often noisy) show with a range of demonstrations, readings from the latest books and quizzes.”

The event will take place in the Space Marquee at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium with Nick’s shows taking place at 11am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday November 5 and 6, lasting 45 minutes. The centre's dedicated team of science experts will also be delivering their own very horrible science demonstrations throughout the day.

The event is perfect for children aged six to 14 and it’s expected to be popular so advance booking is recommended. Tickets cost just £1 in addition to the general entry fee.

Since 1996, writer Nick Arnold and illustrator Tony de Saulles have been amusing, informing and grossing-out their readers with their enormously popular and award-winning series of Horrible Science books. From Blood, Bones and Body Bits to Space, Stars and Slimy Aliens, these books cover every subject known to science. Nick Arnold has been writing stories since he was a boy and even then his favourite topics were horrible goings-on - the more gruesome the better. He has now lost count of the number of books he’s written.

Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium is Southern England's leading hands-on, interactive, science and technology centre with the largest standalone planetarium in the UK. The Science Centre is a self-funded, independent educational charity and relies on Gift Aid and visitor donations to stay open seven days a week.

An online booking discount is available on general entry. Visit winchestersciencecentre.org or call 01962 863791 for tickets.
