THE Point is presenting a weekend of family fun with the return of Eastleigh Unwrapped and a one-of-a-kind 20th Birthday Party.

The Sorting Office studios in Eastleigh Town Centre will also be opening its doors to the public as part of Open Studios, welcoming the community in to see an array of beautiful creations from the talented resident designer-makers.

In 2015 Eastleigh Unwrapped saw 11,000 festival-goers, and as the event returns for its fourth year on Saturday, The Point showcases a host of exceptional artists across the Town Centre to make it bigger than ever before. From aerial to circus, dance to theatre, you’re guaranteed to find something you love, with a number of shows for the whole family.

Supported Artists and visual theatre company SharkLegs present Long, Broad and Sharpsight as headline act the Bullzini Family showcases daring high-wire performance in Equilibrius. Dance-circus duo Joli Vyann present two wonderfully kooky works with thoughtful Lance moi en l’air and quirky love story Don’t Drink and Dance, plus much more.

Expect to see world-class tap dance, witty family theatre and roaming performances with outstanding set pieces. Unwrapped will also champion local talent with pop-up performance from Street to the Point and Hampshire Youth Dance Company.

Cheryl Butler, Head of Culture at EBC said: “Summer is always a great time to visit Eastleigh as The Point stages its free outdoor performance festival Unwrapped and The Sorting Office opens its doors to the public (an event that only happens twice a year). But this year the magic will be added to because, as it’s the 20th birthday of The Point, there is also going to be a free party with tea and cake on Leigh Road Recreation Ground - what more could anyone ask for!”

The Sorting Office bi-annual Open Studios takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Members of the public can join 16 resident designer-makers, watch them work, browse their stunning designs, and learn more about the bold ventures The Sorting Office supports. The two-day event comes complete with a Makers Fayre, featuring an Etsy section, and several demonstrations of techniques from quilting and jewellery making, to screen printing.

On Sunday The Point will transform Leigh Road Recreation Ground once more, as twenty themed picnic tables adorn the park for the venue’s celebratory 20th Birthday Party. This is a free event that invites the community to share in the history of The Point with a specially created memory room, where party-goers are invited to step back in time to share their favourite Point stories. The Jiving Lindy Hoppers also return for an exclusive performance filled with nostalgia, and The Point’s baking extraordinaire tries your tasty cake creations to crown a winner of the Bake Off competition.

All of the Borough’s events this weekend are free to attend, but please do book your spot for the 20th Birthday Party so The Point can prepare enough tea and cake for everyone! To reserve your space visit thepointeastleigh.co.uk.
