THE wait is over - for some lucky muggles.

The live theatre continuation of the Harry Potter saga has opened in London and the few who secured tickets have sent social media into meltdown with their reviews of the latest antics of their wizarding heroes.

Unsurprisingly, the word spellbound was used rather a lot and fans gave a universal thumbs up to the J.K. Rowling-penned play, which features a new generation of witches and wizards heading for Hogwarts.

Potterheads the world over, myself included, have been desperately trying to snap up tickets.

The first 175,000 tickets went in less than 24 hours with booking now completely closed for the next year.

Like many of his fans 19 years on, Ministry of Magic worker Harry has now grown up and has three children with his wife Ginny Weasley.

He still has his trademark round-rimmed glasses and the scar on his head, a permanent reminder of his nemesis Lord Voldemort, but must now help his youngest son Albus confront the family's dark past.

I love that that there was a rogue owl on the loose around the theatre at the first preview, giving it an air of Hedwig delivering post to the Great Hall.

But I hate that it's virtually impossible to avoid the spoilers with not all fans taking note of Rowling's plea to keep the secrets.

Still the script is released on Harry's birthday, July 31, so I'll just have to hide in a dark room in Little Whinging until then.
