IT organises a cultural party for tens of thousands in a Southampton park each year.

Art Asia has been celebrating and sharing South Asian Arts in the city for more than 30 years with the hugely successful Southampton Mela Festival and one off concerts and events.

Now, they are set to launch a regular musical celebration.

Art Asia and Southampton Music Hub are excited to announce a new Indian Classical Music Club, set to begin in November.

Internationally celebrated musicians Arnab Chakrabarty and Sanju Sahai will be performing and discussing their instruments and careers at the inaugural event at Banister School in Archers Road on Thursday November 19.

The club has been formed for those with an interest of love for Indian Classical Music and evenings will include presentations on the history, instruments, Ragas (Scales), Talas (rhythmic cycles) and short performances from renowned musicians.

Arnab Chakrabarty is an outstanding exponent of Hindustani classical music, and is arguably among the top handful of currently active sarode players. A relentlessly self-improving student of music, a teacher of extraordinary ability, an instrument designer and restorer of considerable skill, Arnab Chakrabarty is the complete sarode musician of his generation.

Sanju Sahai is currently one of the finest and most sought after Tabla players of his generation. Belonging to the Benares Gharana (lineage) and being the sixth generation of Tabla players in the lineage, he became a child prodigy. A phenomenal Tabla player, he is well known for mesmerising and captivating his audience with his power, virtuosity and spontaneity.

Future clubs will take place on January 21, March 17, May 9, July 28 and September 15 2016 at the same venue.

Doors open at 7pm for the event, which runs from 7.30pm to 9pm and costs £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s.
