DANNY Howard, one of Radio 1’s most popular DJ’s, is to return to Southampton next month to play a set at night club Switch, as part of University Fresher’s fortnight.

The DJ last made an appearance in Southampton back last year where he played at Oceana. “I remember it being good; the student population helps because they are the best people, always up for partying, especially freshers!”

Hitting the music scene back in 2011, he won Radio 1’s superstar DJ competition, “I wanted to take it to the next level, but I wasn’t even going to apply. I never thought I would win, it was a massive surprise”

His success has rocketed ever since and helped shine a light on the UK dance music scene.

Dance music has always been a part of his life, he adds: “Since a young age I have always loved it, music would always be played around the house."

Now known as one of the country’s biggest dance DJ’s he has played across the country at various festivals and more impressively abroad in places like Ibiza where he recently did a set at Radio 1’s Ibiza weekender. This was always one of the venues he wanted to play if given the chance: "I went to Pacha and fell in love, I thought if I would ever get a chance to DJ here, even if it’s in the toilets!”

Switch is no stranger to the music dance scene having had some the biggest DJ’s play there including the likes of Snoop Dogg and DJ EZ. With fellow Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac also on the list to have played at Switch, he is excited to be making his debut there.

Danny said: "I've heard its one of the best places and have seen who has been there.”

Tickets are on sale now for the date, tomorrow night.
