COMEDY theatre company LipService celebrate an impressive 30 years of success by taking their brand new show The Picture of Doreen Gray on the road.

At The Haymarket on Friday September 11, LipService have taken Oscar Wilde’s classic Dorian Gray and given it a modern twist to observe the hazards of aging in the public eye.

Award-winning satirical writing duo Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding tell the story of a glamorous drive-time radio host and television presenter who seems to have it all. But as Doreen hits her mid-50s, she starts to realise that her face no longer fits the bill. That is until, at a school reunion, she stumbles across a youthful self-portrait and makes a dark and dreadful deal. Doreen may have found a way to stay young forever… but at what cost?

The production features film, fun and aging own trademark blend of the surreal and downright silly. Tongue-in-cheek gags and witty one-liners that will keep you laughing until the very last – but, be careful what you wish for.

Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding have been writing and performing together since 1985. They have written numerous original comedies for stage, had their own series on BBC Radio 4, many appearances on television and won several awards. They were last at The Haymarket with the hugely successful Inspector Norse.
