WINCHESTER Discovery Centre is hosting a Dinosaurium this summer seeing a range of reimagined creatures come to life for a family-friendly exhibition.

Visitors can take part in hands-on activities and learn a range of facts about the prehistoric creatures which roamed our land millions of years ago.

There will be reconstructed antiquarians as well as a mystery fictional Edwardian specimen jar containing a “living” dinosaur.

Local artists have created replicas from paper, card, plastic and textiles and feature stories of pioneer fossil collectors in their work.

Hampshire Cultural Trust and Winchester Discovery Centre have come together to put on a programme of themed events during the Dinosaurium exhibition.

Writers on the Rampage, being held on August 10, is to encourage young writers to create creatures and set them free to rampage in poems and stories. Tickets cost £10 per person.

The Dinosaur Dome Show, on August 15, is an 360-degree interactive dinosaur show in a planetarium setting where children can learn about the origin of flight, experience the thrill of gliding over the countryside and travel back in time to meet flying pterosaurs and ancestors of modern day birds. Tickets, costing £8, includes access to a hands-on fossil workshop.

The Tyrannosaurus Drip...

and more, on August 17, is an interactive story-telling based on the books by Julia Donaldson. Tickets cost £1.50 per child.

The‘Dinosaurs in Your Garden’ Workshop, on August 26, is an hands-on investigation the animal kingdom featuring dinosaurs and birds. Tickets cost £3 per child.

A make-you-own dinosaur T-shirt workshop is on August 30, costing £10 per person, and finally the Feathers and Flying Dinosaurs event is on September 4.
