THREE evenings of fantastic comedy are being lined up at two Hampshire venues this autumn.

The Point in Eastleigh plays host to one of Ireland’s funniest comedians when Patrick Kielty comes to town on October 3.

Patrick is returning to his stand-up roots later this year with his new show Help and will also make his debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival performing seven shows in Studio Three at the Assembly George Square.

Join the former psychology graduate and star of BBC 1’s Live at the Apollo, Dave’s One Night Stand and host of Radio 2’s BBC New Comedy Awards as he attempts to write a modern rulebook for love, life and happiness. Bring him your lovers, your advice and a crayon. Kielty promises to do the rest.

Over at The Berry Theatre, Sean Hughes will be performing his new show Mumbo Jumbo.

Throughout his life, multi award-winning Sean has been battling to stay on the right side of sanity. In middle age he has realised that the two sides of his brain are in constant conflict: common sense against mumbo jumbo and mumbo jumbo seems to have the upper hand.

Hear Sean’s stories about being serenaded by Robert Smith, trekking mountain gorillas in Rwanda and coming to the conclusion that he will never have a proper conversation with his dear mum. There will be a few poems and a three-minute musical about ageing too.

Mumbo Jumbo by Sean Hughes is on Saturday, November 7.

Two weeks later a 1990s TV stalwart will be performing his new show Robert Newman: The Brain Show.

After volunteering for a brain-imaging experiment meant to locate the part of the brain that lights up when you’re in love, Rob, probably best known for the Mary Whitehouse Exeperience, emerges with more questions than answers.

Can brain scans read our minds? Are we our brains? How can you map the mind?

The show includes a specially constructed MRI-hat that will record his real-time brain activity in the show.

Robert Newman: The Brain Show is on at The Berry Theatre on Saturday, November 21 at 8pm.
