WINCHESTER Cathedral’s outside theatre returns this summer with two performances each by popular touring company Illyria, famed for their acting skills and their athleticism in covering a large number of roles with a small number of few actors!

On Friday August 21, they give a swashbuckling rendition of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers.

Set against a sweeping panorama of 17th century France at war, The Three Musketeers is a whirlwind of excitement, broad comedy and ingenious story-telling.

There’s romance, intrigue, murder, betrayal and revenge.

It’s the turn of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew on Saturday, August 29. Everyone wants to marry mild-mannered Bianca.

No-one wants to marry her acid-tongued older sister Kate.

Their father won’t let anyone marry Bianca until a husband can be found for Kate, but no-one knows anyone mad enough to take her on.

Until Petruchio arrives comes to town, when sparks are guaranteed to fly!

Tickets are available in advance from the Cathedral box office.
