IT HAS been a busy year for Music Theatre South ...and they won’t be stopping for summer holidays.

Their next production ‘Departure Lounge’ - which runs at Stage Door, Southampton, is a fun, fresh musical, set in a departure lounge of Malaga Airport.

With music and lyrics by former West End star Dougal Irvine, this fast paced 75 minute show follows the trials and tribulations of four college leavers, as they wait for a delayed flight after a lads’ holiday away.

“It’s a great little show," explains director Adam Myers. “We have actually produced it a few years back, although revisiting it has been a really exciting experience.

“It’s such a surprise of a show, as you can imagine very funny and raucous, but also very moving and honest. We are having a ball working on it.

"People ask us all the time to explain the show, and I always say it’s a bit like The Inbetweeners musical, as there are a lot of comparisons, but fortunately, our characters are a bit more rounded.”

Departure Lounge is only on for four shows at Southampton’s new fringe theatre – The Stage Door from Wednesday, July 29 to Saturday August 1, 8pm- 9.30pm. Tickets at ticketsouth.co.uk or call the venue on 02380 630300 or pop in.
