LIVERPOOL favourites Cast are to play Southampton in July as part of a major nationwide tour.

Fronted by lead singer guitarist John Power, the band will play The Engine Rooms on West Quay Road on Saturday July 4.

The date is almost twenty years to day since they released their brilliant debut single Fine Time.

Their top ten album All Change then launched the band in the heady days of Brit-pop, TFI Friday and into the rest of the indie whirlwind.

Following singles All Right, Sandstorm and Guiding Star were other big chart hits.

Another song, Walkaway, became part of the soundtrack of Euro ’96 when the BBC played it over their closing titles to England’s semi-final defeat.

Though Oasis headlined the great years of 1990s British music, groups like Cast, The Charlatans, Kula Shaker and Northern Uproar were just as important in creating the best guitar tunes for a generation.

A lot has happened since those early days, but some things don’t change. With more recent new songs, including those from their 2012 album Troubled Times, Cast still have something to say.

The band will return to the South again to play at the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth over the August bank holiday weekend.

But before then Cast play The Engine Rooms on West Quay Road on Saturday 4 July 2015.
