A MUSIC festival celebrating all things Americana is set to return to Winchester with a bumper 11-hour line up.

Now in its sixth year SC4M has established itself as a showcase for quality roots and Americana music.

Its name stands for South Central For Music, and the festival will have several unique features - it's indoors and there are no clashes with set times.

Headlining the September 1 event is Canadian folk rock band Great Lake Swimmers as they embark on their first UK tour for many years supporting their latest release A Forest of Arms.

Hampshire Chronicle:

At the top of the bill in the acoustic room is the ever-popular bluegrass ensemble The Coal Porters (pictured above) featuring Sid Griffin.

Two new contenders on the country rock scene, Barna Howard and Andrew Combs, both on Loose label, will play the festival - the latter with his full band.

Winchester's Chris T-T will also grace the acoustic stage alongside Gill Sandell - the two released the critically-acclaimed album Walk Away, Walk Away.

Completing the line up is Peter Bruntnell, who has played every SC4M festival to date; Romsey's Co-Pilgrim; and The Dreaming Spires, hot off the Andrew Marr show.

As well as the music indoors revellers can enjoy the garden of the Railway Inn, as well as food and ales.

Tickets for SC4M on September 1, from midday-11pm, cost £30.
