THE full programme of speakers and events has been released for a Hampshire writers’ festival that is celebrating 35 years this month.

The three-day annual University of Winchester Writers’ Festival features themed master class workshops given by leading authors, literary agents and publishers, as well as talks, one-to-one appointments, forums, open mic readings and a celebratory dinner.

This year’s festival brings together more than 70 industry professionals to share their expertise with emerging creative writers.

Saturday’s keynote address, titled Making it Up, Making it Real, sees Sebastian Faulkes offer inspiration and advice.

The rest of the day is packed with a choice of 32 talks, one-to-one appointments, the festival writing competition awards ceremony, an open forum writers’ surgery hosted by Jane Wenham-Jones and an opportunity to sit back and relax as BBC Radio Four scriptwriter, director and producer, Paul Dodgson, pictured, offers his radio readings.

Saturday’s celebratory three-course dinner features Everest summiteer, film-maker and novelist Matt Dickinson as the after dinner speaker, while writers seeking new inspiration and ideas can also explore a range of Sunday workshops focusing on various topics and specialist techniques.

The festival is on June 19-21.
