FEATURING the songs of The Proclaimers, this musical-comedy chronicles the ups and downs of three couples in the Edinburgh suburb of Leith. Davy (Avenue Q star Alex Hillman) and best-friend Ally (Darren Alderton) return from Afghanistan and struggle to come to terms with love and life on Civvy Street.

Their love interest is provided by Lauren Kempton (Yvonne) and Helen Stoddart (Liz) who turn in predictably excellent performances, with their emotional solos beautifully-delivered.

Liz’s parents Rab (Alan Jennings) and Jean (the always-impeccable Jane Pegler) have their own problems and it takes a heart attack for the two to be reconciled.

Nurse Liz heads for a new life in Florida, Davy and Yvonne vow to make things work and Ally re-enlists.

With a great set, costumes, lighting, choreography (Kate Walsh), a star-studded ensemble and musical-maestro Alan Pring in the pit and Dan Franks on guitar, director Matt Sackman couldn’t fail – and he didn’t!
