NEW indie-rock stars Circa Waves played a brilliant sell-out show on the south coast only a week after celebrating their debut album breaking into the top ten.

The Liverpool band received an ecstatic welcome from the capacity crowd at The Wedgewood Rooms.

Famous for their hit single T-Shirt Weather, the lads heralded an unofficial early start to summer with their urgent and bouncy indie-pop tunes.

The show was relentlessly energetic from start to finish. Charismatic front man Kieran Shudall began the set with a tremendous version of the title track to the band’s new album, Young Chasers.

More three-minute masterpieces came thick and fast including Good for Me, Fossils and Get Away.

Guitarists Sam Rourke and Joe Falconer bounded around the stage while drummer Colin Jones had a moment’s break when the audiences’ clapping along to album track Lost It provided an impromptu substitute beat.

There was a chance for everyone else to take a breather when Shudall sung the stunningly reflective tune Talking Out Loud.

Earlier, mischievous teenage singer with attitude Rat Boy got the evening off to a memorable start. Expect to hear more from him.

Gigs promoting first albums at close range venues like this one are always exciting. Circa Waves are still near the start of their journey in music. Lots of the fans at the Wedgewood Room are likely to stay along for the ride.
