SOUTHAMPTON’S folk-punk troubadour Sean McGowan is playing a special one-off show in one of the city’s most legendary venues.
The Billy Bragg-approved singer-songwriter will appear at the newly reopened Frog and Frigate in Canute Road on April 16 ahead of his extensive UK tour with sixpiece folk act Skinny Lister.
Sean, who is named in the Daily Echo’s ones to watch in 2015 list, has enjoyed touring with Get Cape. Wear Cape.
Fly, The Rifles, Beans on Toast and Frank Turner.
He is influenced by The Clash, The Jam, The Specials and Billy Bragg and appeared at the latter’s Leftfield stage at Glastonbury.
Southampton features strongly in his work, such as a song titled Millbrook Road.
Sean is also one of the many acts performing at the Common People festival on Southampton Common in May.
The event starts at 7pm and tickets are available from musicglue.com/seanmcgowan.
