AMERICAN drive-in movies are happening in Southampton.

The popular stateside pastime – at its peak in the 50s and 60s, is coming to St Mary’s Stadium next month.

For £25 per car, audiences can select from a handful of classic movies, as well as a couple of more modern features.

The drive-in will provide the classic movie-going experience, with soft drinks and popcorn served to your car.

The screenings will be taking place on April 16-19.

More details on the available movies and procedure of the drive-in are available through organisers’ Yellow Vintage Fair website.

Tickets are selling quickly, with Grease and Dirty Dancing already sold out.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis on the evening and you are advised to allow one hour before movie start time to allow for parking – and take plenty of warm clothing.

Food is available before and during the movie. No alcohol is permitted.

Extreme weather may affect the performance. For updates please check the website yellowvintagefair.co.uk.

On Thursday, April 16, the movies include E.T. at 5.30pm and The Fast and the Furious at 8.45pm.

On Friday, April 17, it’s Mary Poppins at 5.30pm and then Dirty Dancing at 9pm.

On Saturday, April 18, it’s The Goonies at 5.30pm and Grease at 8.30pm.

Finally, on Sunday, April 19, enjoy Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at 5pm, followed by Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy at 8.30pm.
