A MUSICAL reflection of the events of 1915 as seen through school pupils’ eyes will be staged in Basingstoke tonight.

One Hundred Years On has been created by children from Merton Junior School, Preston Candover Church of England Primary School and Saxon Wood Special School.

They have produced new music, songs and choreography, taking inspiration from the First World War poetry and stories.

The project was commissioned by Anvil Arts, which works with more than 10,000 people in Basingstoke and Deane to bring new opportunities that otherwise would not happen.

Leading the project is composer and conductor Howard Moody, joined by a team of musicians, including violinist Ken Aiso, drummer Buster Birch, guitarist Adrian Zolotuhin, and singer Emily Blows, along with choreographer Emma Payne and director Colin Brown.

Following several weeks of individual rehearsals, taking everyone involved on a journey to the Western Front and beyond, the three schools came together at The Anvil for final rehearsals before the performance tonight at 7pm.

Tickets for One Hundred Years On cost £6. Call 01256 844244 or visit anvilarts.org.uk to book.
