THE latest Art Exhibition at Christchurch Regent features the work of Bournemouth artists, Gareth Scott and Jacqueline Scott until Friday March 20.

South African-born Gareth Scott moved to the UK and achieved a lifelong ambition to visit London’s great Art Galleries – particularly the Tate Gallery to experience the Old Masters first hand and experience the Culture that has so strongly influenced artists all over the world.

Gareth’s work has been featured in the Wall Street International Art Magazine along with five other artists who were exhibiting at the Bricklane Gallery in London, where he has continued to exhibit his work for the last three years.

Gareth’s philosophy for art is always to examine different points of view and he has taken his inspiration from the full spectrum of artists from Picasso and Salvador Dali to Jackson Pollack and Banksy but he is also influenced by other art forms, such as music, songs, the media and naturally occurring phenomena.

Gareth says: “Art is a spontaneous individual’s original creation influenced by something sensationally powerful.

"Always pushing the boundaries, remembering the past Masters who inspired an idea.

"Reinvent and reuse them to revive old inspiration as a tribute. After all, art is the past, the present and the future.

"It’s always been and always will be about a different point of view.”

Jacqueline French studied art at Burnley Art College and then moved south to run her own interior design business. She has always painted portraits, both animal and human and this now forms the majority of her work.

“Energy, Power and Passion” is what Jaqueline aims to convey in her work. She is fascinated by the beauty of nature and particularly the structure, musculature and movement of animals and people.

Last year she was commissioned by Ed Fielding, Paloma Faith’s photographer, to paint her and Paloma has signed the portrait.

"Jacqueline is currently working on a collaboration with Ed and Paloma to create a portrait which will be auctioned off to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

"Jacqueline has also painted portraits of other famous Bands to be used in their merchandising.

In addition, Jaqueline is a trained taxidermist and a member of the UK Guild of Taxidermists, which has naturally led her into painting a series of equine and canine portraits.

Artistically, Jacqueline takes her inspiration from Salvador Dali and his use of strong colour and precise detail but in the initial stages of creating the drawing she is also inspired by the work of Leonardo da Vinci for his skilled anatomical drawings.
