AN X Factor contestant who won support from Lady Gaga is joining the cast of a Hampshire pantomime.

Kitty Brucknell grabbed the nation’s attention on the ITV show in 2011 with her outrageous costumes, theatrical performances and big voice winning huge public and celebrity support from the likes of Lady Gaga, Brian May and Kylie Minogue.

The flamboyant performer will join the cast of Aladdin at the Kings Theatre pantomime in Portsmouth as Princess Jasmine alongside boy band star Antony Costa from Blue.

Since her X Factor success, the singer-songwriter has toured internationally and enjoyed sell-out shows across the UK.

Last year she took her Glamour and Damage tour to Asia, gaining international credibility and support, followed by a headlining national Pride Tour.

She released a dance track in Germany called No Tomorrow and following up with some fantastic sessions in the studio – she released a new track online called Chains which garnered a lot of interest from major online blogs, even with a mention from Brian May of Queen. Digital Spy and Maximum Pop called the track “striking”.

Last month she released her debut single entitled Glitter in the Sky, following on from that her debut album entitled Glamour and Damage.

Using the celebrated music crowdfunding site Pledge Music (Janet Devlin, Weezer, Erasure, Peter Andre, The Libertines and more) she raised all the financing needed to promote her debut single and tour it across the UK on a schools and radio tour, eventually charting at number nine on the Official Indie Charts.

She is a front runner to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Austria in 2015 and her second single will be released early next year alongside a commercially released album.

Kitty has been singing and performing from an early age. She studied violin and piano, trained with the national Youth Music Theatre and also performed with the National Children’s Orchestra for three years.

More than a performer, she writes and co-produces many of her songs, as well as having full input on her live shows, from designing video visuals, choreography, costumes and live mixes.

Thrilled and honoured to have been asked to play the role of Princess Jasmine, she said; “being a Disney Princess on stage is one of my childhood dreams! I never thought I’d get this opportunity, and I’m so excited to share this with all of you.”

Also starring is Antony Costa as Aladdin, Jade Ellis as the Genie of the Lamp, Marcus Patrick as The Genie of the Ring, Jack Edwards as Abanazar, Aiden J Harvey as Wishee Washee, Phill Randall as Widow Twankey and Christopher Marlowe as the Empress of China.
