HE was the other half of the jazz world’s most famous Mr and Mrs partnership.

Sir John Dankworth’s skills as a performer, composer and conductor made him a household name.

He was musical director for his wife Dame Cleo Laine as well as other jazz greats like Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson.

Sir John, who died more than four years ago aged 82, left a rich musical legacy which will be saluted at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club on July 16.

Over the years the musician, whose film and television scores included The Avengers and Tomorrow’s World, had been a popular headliner at the club.

Johnny Dankworth Remembered is part of the Stoneham Lane club’s sizzling summer season programme.

There will also be a salute to another musical giant who launched his career from the Concorde when he was plain Reg Dwight.

The tribute to pop icon Elton John is on July 25 with the Ultimate Elton starring Paul Bacon and The Rocket Band.

Part of a series of tributes to musicians who have become household names, the star studded line-up includes Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Pink (July 10) The Kast of Kinks (July 11) Black Eyed Peaz as Black Eyed Peas (July 12) Pop Up Bowie (July 19) a one man Beatles tribute (July 26) Supremely Diana Ross (August 9) and Miss Kylie as Kylie Minogue (August 22) Cricketing superstar Sir Gary Sobers will be bowling into The Concorde on August 1 and the summer feel good factor continues on August 2 with Caribbean Buffet Night and Reggae Music.

Adding his expert view to the world cup post mortem will be former Saints star and Sky Sports commentator Matt Le Tissier who will be giving a football chat on August 14.

The sporting theme continues on September 5 with Britain’s own golfing hero Tony Jacklin and snooker ace Willie Thorne.

Comedian and chat show king Des O’Connor returns to Eastleigh on September 12.

Making his debut and headlining an international jazz night will be celebrated Alabama bluesman Leon Atkins on July 9.

The Concorde will be revving up for the classic car show on September 14 while the musical programme also takes to the fast lane with The Blues Band, including Hampshie born and Manfred Mann legend Paul Jones (Sept 17), Elkie Brooks (September 19) Martha Reeves and The Vandellas (September 25 ) and Rufus Stone (September 27).
