The city can look forward to four vibrant days of live music, song and dance in its streets, pubs and concert venues.

The festival has attracted many well-known singers and musicians from the worlds of folk, blues, jazz and roots including Steamchicken, Tom Bliss, Jackie Oates with James Dumbleton, Craig Morgan: Robson, The Baddest Blues Band (Ever!) and many more.

Kick-starting MAYfest '08, the Bash on the Bridge celebrates the wealth of local folk, roots and acoustic music.

After the huge success of the first PUBfest in 2007, there are even more pub sessions this year.

Most evenings and lunchtimes, MAYfest artists will be playing live music in some of Winchester's favourite watering-holes.

The festival maintains its fun and vibrancy with more than 300 dancers, informal pub sessions, a festival market on the Cathedral Green and in the Square, children's entertainers, concerts and ceilidhs and again features the primary school children's ceilidh.

The festival's day of dance climaxes with One BIG Party, a ceilidh alongside a concert at the Guildhall, which is on the Saturday.

As in previous years, thanks to generous sponsorship and public donations, many of the MAYfest events are free.
