Hampshire festival features local talent

5:10pm Friday 23rd April 2010

UPCOMING Southampton group, Band of Skulls, will be playing at this year’s Blissfields Festival.

The award-winning event at Bradley, near Alresford, has also announced several other acts for this year’s show.

Ou Est le Swimming Pool? might sound like a mental block in a French oral exam, but they will be headlining the Friday night bill.

Joining them are festival favourites, Dub Pistols, along with Chris T-T, who originally hails from Winchester.

Other talent from Hampshire includes The Ashbies, Polly and the Billets Doux and Ryan O’Reilly.

Look out, too, for Beans on Toast, Imperial Leisure, Subgiant and Birdpen.

There’s more to come with the headline act for the coveted Saturday night spot still under wraps. Last year, Welsh rockers, Super Furry Animals, took top billing.

Organiser, Paul and Mel Bliss, said the headline act would be revealed once all the tickets for 2010 had sold out.

No tickets were left over in 2009 and this year’s laid-back fun and frivolity takes place on Friday, July 2, and Saturday, July 3. The organisers said that most of this year’s tickets had already gone, with just a handful left at the time of going to press.

Weekend tickets with camping are £55 plus booking fee for adults and £35 for children aged five to 15. Toddlers go free and adults must accompany all under-16s. There is a £30 charge for camper vans. For details, visit www.blissfields.co.uk.
