A right whale of a time

IF you fancy a laugh to shake off the winter blues, then check out theatre company Spymonkey’s return to Hampshire.

Last year, they brought their current show, Moby Dick, to a couple of Hampshire venues, and now it will be the turn of Winchester.

The Theatre Royal will be hosting the show, having previously welcomed Spymonkey’s last offering, Cooped.

The new show takes Herman Melville’s literary classic as its starting point before sailing off in its own direction.

Four actors find themselves trapped in the belly of a literary monster. Will Ahab’s thirst for revenge be unhinged by the well-meaning but staggeringly inept attentions of his crew?

Now that he has found true love, is Ishmael still fated to be the sole survivor of the Pequod?

And what does a Bavarian cannibal harpooneer eat?

Expect slapstick, one-liners and some cutting-edge humour as the silliness unfolds.

The show runs from Friday, February 26 to Sunday, February 28, with “curtain up” at 8pm.

Tickets cost £16 for adults, with discounts available for concessions, school parties and theatre friends.
