A MIXTURE of classic music and buffoonery is coming to the Theatre Royal, in Winchester.
Pluck – The Specialists brings together a string trio and plenty of laughs and japes.
With the help of a viola, violin and cello, three talented musicians will mime and clown their way through an irreverent show for all the family.
The show aims to combine physical drama with accomplished musical talent with plenty of well-known classical works.
The Specialists is Pluck’s second show and features a trio of characters with dubious intelligence.
They comprise Mr Yarlesberg, Mr Abanathie and Kadifachi, who have formed a string trio with the intention of performing a rather special classical music concert.
When at last they are given a chance to perform, highly-strung violinist Yarlsberg has designs on the perfect concert and ever-enthusiastic Mr Abanathie aims to please with a variety of instruments.
Meanwhile, Kadifachi’s surprisingly passionate relationship with her cello threatens to hijack the entire performance. The show is directed by Cal McCrystal, and the group’s work has been described as “classical music meets the Marx Brothers” in a show that aims to offer plenty of creativity and originality.
Pluck – The Specialists is playing at the Theatre Royal in Jewry Street on Tuesday, July 28, at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £14 for adults, £12 for concessions and £11.50 for theatre friends.
