THE London Mozart Players appear at The Anvil in Basingstoke on Friday, April 24, at 7.45pm.

Conducted by South African born Gerard Korsten, the concert will start with Mozart’s early G Minor Symphony No 25.

It shows the emotional depths that the teenage composer could convey in a key that was always special to him.

Haydn’s genial Sinfonia Concertante for violin, cello, oboe and bassoon will come next. It is an enjoyable piece with which the composer could show off the characteristics of his orchestra at Ezsterhazy.

The evening ends with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 3 which stems from a famous trip the young composer made to the Highlands in 1829, although it was actually the last that he composed.
