IT’S more than jewellery, it’s wearable art.

That’s how the creations which go on show at the “Summer Jewels” exhibition at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey have been described.

The exhibits are the products of the nimble fingers of the members the Wessex Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ) .

More than 20 different jewellers are represented at the exhibition. Some use traditional materials (silver, gold and platinum) and techniques but also on show will be jewellery made from more recently developed materials, such as resin and hand-dyed anodised aluminium.

This is the third time ACJ Wessex has been invited back to Hillier’s to showcase the skills and talent.

Gill Mallett (ACJ Wessex coordinator) commented: “Every exhibition we have held at Hilliers has been so well received. There will be new makers joining us and many of the previous exhibitors too, so this year will prove to be the best yet.”

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to enter a free prize draw by voting for their favourite jeweller and the winner will receive a £100 voucher to spend with the exhibiting jeweller of their choice.

Summer Jewels opens runs to July 19. Entry to the Visitors Pavilion, exhibition and café is free (entry charges to the gardens applies).
