AN artist supported by an Eastleigh theatre has been awarded a grant of nearly £50,000.

ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, run by choreographer, Zoie Golding, pictured, has been awarded £48,000 by Arts Council England to develop its long-term vision.

The company is one of The Point’s supported artists.

Zoie said the money will enable her to bring on board a producer, media manager and fundraising coordinator, plus work on new projects including a new piece about trade unions, an outdoor work called TURN, making a short film and developing the programme for Fuzzy Logic Youth Dance.

“This type of funding allows for us to have a regular income for a sustained period and opens up a whole world of opportunity so we can fully concentrate on the development of the company both strategically and artistically,” Zoie said.

“We will be able to grow our educational outreach work allowing more young people than ever to experience dance, but it also gives me the chance to delve deeper into my artistic practice gaining longer periods of time for investigation and feed the creative mind.”

She added that the money will also enable the company to develop its ManMade platform, with Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre, which is a project to engage more than 150 young men with dance.
