Lord of the Flies, Mayflower Theatre, Southampton
THE Mayflower Theatre is set to host a London performance of a children’s classic this autumn.
Following sell-out performances at Regent’s Park Theatre, Lord of the Flies comes to Southampton from September 29 to October 3.
The show marks the return of Regent to the city following the smash-hit production of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Timothy Sheader, artistic director of Regent’s Park Theatre, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be taking our production of Lord of the Flies out on the road later this year, and bringing it to Mayflower Theatre.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the response to our production of To Kill a Mockingbird this week, and look forward to showing audiences in Southampton our take on another modern classic.”
First published in 1954, Lord of the Flies was William Golding’s debut novel. His other works include Free Fall, The Spire, and the Booker prize winner Rites of Passage.
The play is co-directed by Liam Steel, with design by Jon Bausor, composition and sound score by Nick Powell, with lighting design by Paul Keogan and sound design by Avgoustas Psillas for Autograph.
Tickets are on sale now from the box office by calling 023 8071 1811 or online at mayflower.org.uk.
